You may have picked up on the fact that we have been searching for the
original Amiga Lorrains prototype (out of interest). First we were told off
some one that it was in Germany (how would it get there?!), so it was a
false trail (the person in question has been severely beaten) :). It
looks like we have finally found it, and no the owner won't sell it.
Here is our trail....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
First I thought I would contact Carl Sassenrath, who better to contact
that the original designers? Here is my original E-mail:
Subject: Amiga Lorraine

Carl,
Hi, this is Dan Wood, we have recently been
wondering what ever happened to the original Amiga Lorraine
prototype. Any ideas? We first heard that it was in
Germany (off a not too reliable source). What ever
happened, they couldn't have scrapped the most
important advancement in computer terms ever
could they?
Thanx
Dan :)

Dan,
Which Lorraine prototype are you looking for? A
chip version or wire wrapped version? I've got
one of the chip versions here <<--- FOUND ONE - DAN!!!
, but I think RJ still
has the wirewrapped boards (in the SF Bay Area,
not Germany).

Carl,
Thanks for the info. We wondered what
happened. We didn't realise that there
was more than one! We are looking for the original,
number 1 machine. Thanks!

Carl,
Thanks Carl, I'll keep you posted.

So next we contacted RJ Mical, sent him the copies of Carl's and my
emails, and included this message:
Subject: Amiga
Date: 02 Jan 1997 15:11:00
Encoding: 37 TEXT
RJ,
Hi, Carl reckons that you have the original
Amiga Lorraine prototype, can you tell me if you
do, and maybe tell me a bit about it?
Thanx
Dan

Hey there Dan! Actually, I only have a few pieces of that historiata,
some of the original chip stacks. Dale Luck has the Lorraine and most
of the stacks, and tons of other stuff too. He and I are the chief
collectors of that stuff. (Dale also is a bum who refuses to come by
and get hearty hugs and Christmas presents from me and mine.)
Whatever are you interested in the Lorraine for?

RJ,
Thanks for the info! The Lorraine is almost like a god in the Amiga
world! :) It's a great story when you see it in the magazines. I have
mailed Dale to ask a bit about it, but he hasn't replied as yet :(.
Thanks very much for the help, I'll keep in touch. Bye!

Dan,
good luck, stick with the Amiga, it really is a great machine, then
again I would say that wouldn't I? Keep in touch. Good luck!

So it looks like we found it people. Dale luck still has it. Still
no reply from Dale but we will try and get an article detailing the
machine and telling us a bit about it, hopefully. Maybe Dale has a
few piccies that he could email me. Here's hoping. Look out for
it in the future hopefully!
